It is with great sadness that the Committee, Staff and Members of WSBA mourn the loss of our great friend and supporter, Alby Speed. Alby was a much loved member of WSBA and FWDBA as we were known prior to the opening of the Stadium.

Alby was a player, an Official Victorian Umpire and a wonderful volunteer, alongside his beloved wife Bobbie.

We send our love and sympathy to Bobbie and members of their extended family.

Alby and Bobbie played in the Footscray & Williamstown District Badminton Association Pennant Competition for Mt Lyell and Yarraville Methodists for many years, prior to the building of the Altona Badminton Centre.

Alby served on WSBA Committee (1993)

Recipient of WSBA Service Award (1986)

Recipient of Badminton Victoria Service Award
